Grand Apartment Living
With its generous proportions, Art Deco detailing and leafy garden setting, this 1920s Darling Point apartment had an unmistakable charm. What it lacked was the light and easy flow of a home made for the way our clients lived.
At the heart of this renovation lay one transformative move: opening the former third bedroom to the living room, and repurposing it as a spacious dining room. A series of higglety pigglety spaces have bene transformed into one welcoming space to gather, dine and unwind, with natural light reaching deeper into the apartment.
Important to this brief was retaining the original Art Deco character of this apartment. Existing details were carefully preserved and recreated, while sisal flooring, elegant wainscoting and beautifully integrated joinery and fittings bring warmth and texture. The renewed bathroom and refined finishes feel fresh yet familiar – as though they have always belonged.
Now lighter, more connected and made for living, the apartment begins a new chapter without forgetting its past.
Classic Lines, Collected Layers
The new opening draws the living room into a dining space created from the former third bedroom, yet the transition feels entirely original to the apartment. Crisp architectural lines and panelled joinery bring a sense of order, with parquet flooring and natural sisal adding warmth and texture. Rich green velvet, botanical upholstery and antique timber introduce colour, softness and personality. It is a considered layering of old and new that honours the apartment’s Art Deco character while creating an effortless setting for gathering and everyday life.

Tucked away from the apartment’s open living spaces, the guest powder room offers a moment of surprise. Warm, intimate and full of character, it shows how even the smallest room can become one of the most memorable, abundant in it’s own personality.
Considered Down to the Detail
Throughout the apartment, custom, hand painted joinery brings consideration to every room. Panelled cabinetry, mirrored insets and classical proportions create generous storage that feels like part of the original architecture. The smallest details were given equal consideration: reeded brass handles, polished chrome tapware and softly aged mirror finishes become moments of refinement. These elements, encountered every day, give this home its distinctly elevated character.
